AMCIS 2026 CFP - Architecture of Enterprise Systems: Integration and Transformation Challenges
Enterprise systems form the core of modern organizations, yet increasing system heterogeneity, fragmented processes, and rapid digital transformation continue to challenge their evolution. As enterprise architectures grow in complexity, organizations must not only integrate new technologies but also ensure alignment across business processes, governance structures, and IT infrastructures. Our AMCIS 2026 mini-track explores Enterprise System Architecture (ESA) as the crucial connecting layer between business design and technological realization. We focus on how architectural paradigms, e.g. Event-Driven Architecture (EDA), microservices, and service-oriented patterns, shape integration capabilities, adaptability, and sustainability across distributed enterprise landscapes. Within this context, ESA also plays a critical role in enabling knowledge flow, coordinating architectural decisions, and supporting Business–IT alignment through mechanisms such as Enterprise Architecture Management (EAM). Emerging themes such as gamification approaches in alignment processes or DLT-based trust mechanisms further extend the architectural horizon of enterprise systems. This mini-track invites conceptual, empirical, and design-oriented work that examines architecture as a multi-level coordination mechanism, enabling strategic coherence, process alignment, and transformation readiness.
This Mini-Track spans many topics below (but is not limited to):
- Business–IT alignment in ESA
- Adaptability and sustainability in ESA
- Knowledge generation & distribution in ESA
- Gamification approaches supporting ESA alignment
- Enterprise Architecture Management (EAM) as a governance mechanism
- Microservices migration & enterprise system modernization
- Integration & interoperability across distributed environments
- Evaluation of architectural coherence and adaptability
- DLT for trusted enterprise integration
We invite the submission of completed research papers, Emergent Research Forum (ERF) papers, Technology Research, Education, and Opinion (TREO) talk abstracts, Professional Development Symposia (PDS), workshops, and panels to the 32nd Americas Conference on Information Systems (AMCIS) in Reno, Nevada. From August 20-22, 2026, AMCIS 2026 will bring together academics and industry professionals around the world to exchange knowledge related to diverse facets of information systems research and practice.
Important Dates:
January 4, 2026 - Manuscript submissions begin
March 1, 2026 - Submissions are due at 5:00 pm PST (Reno/Los Angeles)
May 8, 2026 - TREO, PDS, workshop, and panel submissions are due at 5:00 pm PST (Reno/Los Angeles)
